Candidate Recommendation Survey

As the upcoming board election approaches, it is essential to evaluate the candidates based on their positions on key issues that affect our community. This form is designed to gather your thoughts and preferences on important topics such as transparency, governance, financial management, and communication. It's fair to say that 50-word candidate statements aren't nearly enough for an owner to make an informed decision. Fortunately, we've got your back! By filling out this survey, you'll get personalized recommendations for candidates who are most likely to share your views and priorities for our HOA. Your answers are completely anonymous, and the recommendations will help guide you toward making a confident choice on election day.

Communication and Transparency:(Required)
Do you believe board meetings should allow owners to speak or submit written communication that is accessible to all board members?
Fee Increases and Notifications:(Required)
Do you believe the board should be required to notify owners in advance of any increases in HOA fees and require an open meeting for owners to provide feedback and ask questions?
Transition to Modern Accounting Systems:(Required)
Should the board consider transitioning from the current accounting system to a more automated system, potentially improving invoicing, payment security, and financial oversight?
Voting Methods:(Required)
The association currently uses paper ballots for voting and resists adopting a secure, affordable digital voting system that includes both digital and paper ballot options. Would you support transitioning to a digital voting platform for improved accessibility, transparency, security, and convenience?
Barriers to Conventional Loans and Property Values:(Required)
The board’s actions, including frequent litigation with owners, have made it harder for prospective buyers to secure conventional loans, which lowers property values. Do you believe the board's efforts to avoid litigation and its handling of current litigation has affected the ability of prospective buyers to secure conventional loans and impacted property values?
Consumer Protection for Electronic Payments:(Required)
Currently, the board endorses the Sudler Automated Clearing House (ACH) solution, SNAPP, which does not provide essential consumer protections under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act (EFTA). Would you support measures to ensure that all electronic payment methods used by our HOA meet federal consumer protection requirements, including providing clear Terms of Use and safeguarding owners' bank account information?
Meeting Management and Rules of Order:(Required)
Our current board does not use any formal rules of order to manage meetings, leaving all decisions to the board president. Should the board adopt formal rules of order, such as Robert’s Rules, to manage meetings and ensure consistent decision-making?
Conflict of Interest and Board Ethics:(Required)
Currently, our HOA has no ethics policy for board members. Do you believe our HOA should adopt a formal ethics policy that includes conflict of interest, fairness and impartiality, confidentiality, transparency, accountability, and education elements?
Training and Professional Development for Board Members:(Required)
Should all board members be required to undergo training on HOA governance, financial management, and legal responsibilities upon election?
